Captain Azanialix Ja'arda allowed a soft smile to appear upon her lips as she heard the voices of the others as they also emerged, regaining consciousness after that perilous battle which took place within her mind. It was a huge relief to her, knowing that the other members of her crew who had undertaken such a dangerous journey were all going to be fine.

She heard Ti'ana call out for her, and ask if everyone was okay. The Betazoid drew in a deep breath, relishing the fact that she could when she never thought she'd ever be able to do that again after what had happened. After a moment, she responded, "I'm here, Commander, thanks to all of you."

She then listened as Zuub noted how they were on the Avenger, and they had departed from FOR1 upon the orders of Captain Striker. Captain Striker? Jason Striker? She remembered something about him getting a command of a ship named the Avenger. Could this be the very same ship?

"Where is Captain Striker?" Zania asked. She was thinking that Zuub or Joy would have answered her. Instead, she received a response from the computer's voice, which stated, "Captain Striker is not currently on board."

"Not on board?" she asked, confused.

She looked to the others who were in Sickbay, and then struggled to try and sit up. She knew that she ws still weak, but there was something going on. She didn't know what it was, but everything seemed to be shrouded in mystery, and Captains usually weren't supposed to leave their own ships unless . . .

Steadying herself, although somewhat shakily, Zania looked to both Joy and Zuub and ordered, "Contact the Bridge. Try to find out what's going on, and how we can help."

Zuub came over to Melissa's station and unattached her from the machine. She ran a medical tricorder over Melissa. Zuub's antennae remained calm and only leaned in towards her work. She saw Melissa's eyes open and Zuub's antennae began to twitter slightly. She spoke, "Good to have you back, Melissa. Just so you know, the Captain is alright. She's resting over there. Mr. Combs, Jarrold, and Ti'ana are up and around here, as well. Sjet is resting by the Captain. Joy was rather helpful in creating this device."

Zuub then changed the subject, "But, unfortunately, we're still on Avenger and it has left FOR1 for some distress call. I do not know what is going on."

"I guess we'll have to find out." Melissa gently swung her feet from the bed and steadied herself. She felt a little dizzy but it would quickly pass. "I'm glad the procedure went alright. We could have all been in trouble." She looked past Zuub at the Captain. "She'll be okay now."

Melissa stood carefully and looked at Zuub again. "Has anyone contacted the bridge to find out what's going on?"

After grabbing the other weapon that they had been ordered to take, Murdock looked around the room at the others who had gathered for the mission. His eyes fell upon Luke Osswell first, then Yunisca, and finally to Plas Tica.

Carver was probably still on the Avenger bridge, manning a station. He hoped that he'd be okay. Heck, he hoped that they'd all come out okay. The last thing that he wanted was to have someone come out of this in a body bag.

He followed the group to the transporter pad, and then stepped on it. He closed his eyes as he heard the familiar shimmer from the energy transfer begin, which meant that he'd find himself in another location in just a few seconds.

Sure enough, when he opened his brown eyes, the surroundings weren't like what was found on a Starfleet ship at all.

He finally caught the name of the guy who had asked him and the other Zealous crew members to join him on the mission . . . Captain Jason Striker. He got that during the verification which allowed them to get access to the weapons.

But, instead of going with the original plan, which had Murdock going with Ariana, Plas, and the others, Striker asked Murdock to go with him. That was kind of strange that the plan had changed at the last minute, but he wasn't about to question it.

"Yes, sir," Murdock replied, following Striker as they made their way down the one corridor. He wasn't sure why Striker had changed his plan, which only added to the uneasiness of the situation that happened on FOR1, but he had a job to do and he was determined to do it.

["I appreciate your need to keep me alive so that you can kill me yourself in
he future Muzlok but at the moment I need you and Yunisca with Oswell taking
the bridge. That's where the bulk of the resistance is going to be once they
realize we beamed over. Plus I'm sure my XO Commander Ariana will be more
than willing to scream at me later and I might need your protection from
her." he said jokingly.]

Ensign Yunisca slowly listened as the captain and Muzlok talked, she was waiting to see if he was going to change the orders again. Already he had changed them to include Murdock in this away team, but after having spoken he took off followed by Murdock. Slowly glancing at the one called Oswell and Muzlok, she felt her body preping for the battle to come. Giving one last glance down the corridor that the Captain and Murdock had went, she silantly asked both her god to please allow the away teams to come out of this safely. Slowly she turned once again to look at the two she had been told to go with. Letting out a low klingon growl as she said "We have our orders, I don't care who is in charge but we need to get this group moving if were going to insure the Captain and the rest even have a chance to come out of this alive."

A few minutes after Spade called him, Ensign Greystone arrived on the Bridge. Lt. Spade turned and greeted him with a smile. "Welcome aboard the Zealous Ensign. I am Lt. Jake Spade. I understand you are assigned to the Operations department. I, too, am an Operations Officer. But, I'm not the department cheif. Our cheif, Lt. Commander Ti'ana Sullivan, is elswhere at the moment."

He offered his hand to shake before continuing. "One of the first things you should do since you're new to this ship is check in to Sickbay for your physical. But that will have to wait. Our medical staff is dealing with a patient in surgery right now."

"As you probably noticed before coming aboard, our ship is undergoing major repairs." He guestured with his hand to a console displaying ship's systems, "We were heavily damaged in a recent battle. But fortunately we've recieved a lot of help when we docked here at FOR1. Do you know how to do repair work? We could sure use your help."

Rose sat in the chair and waited for the away team to beam over the Breen ship. She instructed Carter to keep an eye out for any new arrivals. No sooner had she uttered the words, two Breen ships arrived: one a battleship!

Rose commanded, "Shields up!" She then commanded, "Hail the ships!"

The reply came back, "Hailing frequencies open."

Rose started, "This is Lieu, er, Captain Amanda Rose of the Avenger. We came on a mission of mercy. Please allow us to complete it and we will leave."

The Breen did not even have the courtesy to respond. The merely opened fire on Avenger. Luckily, the ship was only grazed and no serious impact was taken.

Rose commanded, "Execute maneuver, Striker Omega Alpha three." Rose was not prepared as Avenger dove 'downward' and then spiraled under the smaller Breen ship. She ordered, "Fire to disable their weapons systems."

Phaser fire poured out from Avenger, scoring numerous hits. Unfortunately, the smaller Breen ship was not disabled. It fired its aft weapons just as she received the following over the comm:

"Bridge this is Lt Cmdr Robinson from the Zealous in sickbay, Our crew are all awake now if a bit tired including our Captain can you update us as to the current situation and if there is anything we can do to help"

The ship shook from the impact of the Breen weapons as Rose tapped her commbadge and obviously frazzled, said, =/\= Commander, this is Lieutenant Rose. This really is not a good time to talk. As you may have just gathered, we're in a bit of a firefight with the Breen. You're welcome, or any other members of Zealous, to assist in any capacity on the Bridge. =/\=

tag - all in sickbay

Rose then ordered Avenger to keep firing. This time, the smaller Breen ship had its weapons knocked out. Rose breathed a small sigh of relief, until she felt a larger shock from the battleship firing.

Rose ordered, "Evasive maneuvers!"

Ensign Yunisca watched as Oswell had tackled one man and Muzlock had taken out another. As more rushed in she threw the rifle down. She always had hated guns. Slowly taking a lower stance she prepared her self for the first one she saw running at her. Ducking low as he ran into her she threw her body upwards neatly knocking him on over, hearing as he hit first his head then his back. Quickly she slammed her foot backwards, smiling as she heard the mans nose break. She then slowly continuned to fight her way onto the bridge.

[He could here Yunisca and Oswell behind him, battling in there own way,
but did not notice..nor did he notice the multiple minor wounds that he was
recieving in the hand to hand combat that he had initiated. The battle itself
was a red haze that he did not remember much of, but when it was over, Khan was
standing over the Breen Captain, the Bath-Leth stuck in the floor, pinning the
captain the the ground by his throat. He was injured, but alive. Muzlok looked
around to make sure that the battle was over. Oswell and Yunisca appeared to
have minor wounds, but nothing looked life threatening. Muzlok looked over at
Yunisca. "Tell your Captain Striker that we have a prisoner." ]

Looking slowly at Muzlock she bent down and gently performed the Vulcan pinch on the Breen Captain. Standing back up let out a Klingon growl before smiling at Oswell and Muzlock. "That won't keep him under for long but it may be enough to give the Captain time to get up here. Might want to see if one of you can't shut that alarm off in the mean time, its killing my ears." Then Ensign Yunisca carefully tapped her badge, "Captain just to let you know we have the Breen Captain captured, he's currently been put out. I'm not sure how long the pinch will hold though"

Slowly noticing the funny look the two were giving her she quickly relized why. Carefully she schooled her face back to an impassive look, as she forced her emotions back into thier holding cell.

Zania gave an appreciative nod to Joy Robinson, and then listened as she tried to contact the Avenger's Bridge regarding the current situation. The response that came back did not sound good at all, nor did the fact that the ship shook a few times, nearly throwing her off the biobed and onto the floor.

It seemed as if the Avenger ws being attacked by the Breen . . .

But didn't the Breen participate in the treaty of surrender which had ended the Dominion War? They were very similar to the Jem'Hadar in the sense that they craved for war and combat, and did not stop until the defeat of their enemy or their own death.

The Betazoid knew that she was still severely weak from her ordeal, and probably wouldn't be able to make it to the Avenger Bridge on her own. She didn't have the strength to walk just yet, and the only way she could get up there to assist was with the help of her crew members that were present.

She looked to Joy and asked, "Can you help me get to the Bridge?"

Joy nodded and moved to help Captain Ja'arda, but Zuub stepped forward to protest. "Captain, you're in no condition . . ."

Azanialix gave an encouraging smile to the Andorian and pointed out, "Thank you for your concern, but I'm a Starfleet officer, first and foremost. It is my duty to help when problems may arise, even ignoring my physical well being if the situation warrants. This ship is currently in battle, and it is our duty to help."

She turned her attention back to Joy, and then nodded as she Chief Science officer helped her down from the biobed, and provided the support she needed so the weakened Captain would not fall onto the deck. "Let's go . . ."

The journey to the Turbolift was long and agonizingly slow, but it was the most that could be expected considering the Captain's weakness and the fact that the Avenger kept rocking from the assault from the Breen. But, eventually, they made it.

"What's the status?" Azanialix wondered.

OCC: Right well It was brought to my attention some time ago that there were inconsistencies within my post. Since then I have been suffering some e-mail problems it has only just dawned me to use the thread I will try and get my e-mail fixed and send this out over the mailstring as well. Captain Ja'arda explained all of the inconsistencies to me and I apologize for the inconveniencies that they have caused. I have just returned form ELOA and I was a bit hazy on the whole situation but I cannot balme it entirely on that I was my job to make sure that I was clear on everything and I was not so my bad in that department. I spoke to Captain Ja'arda and she felt that after I made the OCC post acknowledging these mistakes that it would be okay to carry on as normal af if my errors never took place.

Again sorry for the inconsistencies.

As Rose ordered evasive maneuvers, the Breen battleship struck again. Avenger rocked. Suddenly, Avenger started to roll and swerve, avoiding a vast array of attacks that were sent in its general direction.

Rose shouted, "Suggestions, people?! How do we deal with that battleship?"

No answers were forth coming.

Rose directed that Avenger take on a new frontal assault on the Breen battleship. Firing phasers as Avenger charged in, the battleship did take some damage. However, Avenger got a sharp blast to which the computer replied, "Shields at 45%."

Rose gritted her teeth and directed that Avenger vent some plasma to give Avenger some sense of cover and maybe throw off some of the tracking devices from the Breen ship.

Just then she heard someone inquire about the status. Rose whipped around and saw a Captain and a Commander. She recognized these as Ti'ana and Captain Ja'arda. Rose said, "I thought you were in sickbay."

"Well, I'm glad to see you up and around. Striker, Ariana, a Klingon, and a few Zealous crew members beamed over to some Breen ships that Striker battled. Shortly after they left, and I was left in charge, a Breen battleship and another Breen fighter appeared. I have disabled the weapons of the Breen fighter but the Breen battleship is a problem. Shields are at 45% and you may have felt the effects of the fire. Are you here to relieve me of command, Captain?"

"Very well. Do you need me at a station? Striker occasionally used me at Ops and Science."

The Light at the End of the Pit

Postby torchdragon » Sat Mar 04, 2006 1:37 pm

ON:

[Zealous, Transporter Room]

A hand rose from the pit now located where the transporter pad used to be. The smooth surface covering the buffer mechanisms as well as the buffers themselves had been removed in order to gain access to several secondary power systems carefully buried beneath the transporter. The hand poked around for a few seconds before it found its target, a tricorder, and sucked it back into the gaping hole in the floor.

The door hissed and opened, 3 engineers maneuvered a rather large piece of equipment in and set it next to the wall’s access panels on the port side of the transporter room. The glanced over at the pit that was now making whirring and beeping noises.

“Lieutenant?” One of the engineers asked.

“Yah?” Broddy’s voice floated out of the pit.

“Just checking, wanted to make sure you hadn’t been sealed in.”

Down in the pit, Broddy had just finished replacing the secondary plasma conduit the Zealous had burned out by god only knows how. He hucked the old conduit out onto the deck of the transporter room and pointed to one of the engineers, “Run this down to Engineering and have waste management turn it into something useful. Don’t bother with disassembly, the entire unit is fried.”

The ensign nodded, “Yes sir. How are we looking on the repairs?”

“Well, we should be able to reassemble the transporter deck without too much issue. The components are repaired so they’ll just bolt in like normal.” Broddy stood up and dusted himself off. He glanced around and scratched the back of his neck. “I would say not too bad for a days work. We should be able to get everything back up and running by tomorrow’s morning shift.”

He held out a hand and the ensign helped pull him out of the pit, “Then after a bit of testing we can sign off on a good-as-new transporter and finish with everything else. Hand me that PADD.” He took the PADD from the engineer and popped to his to-do list. He blinked in surprise, “Looks like we’re getting close. At the rate we’re going, we should have the Zealous ready to go in maybe 2 more days.”

The ensign nodded and picked up the burnt out conduit, “That’s good to hear. Its weird to say it, but I miss station repairs.” He looked up at Broddy with a confused glance, unsure of what he just said.

Broddy smiled and nodded, “I know what you mean Ensign. Don’t worry, we’ll be knee deep in dead voles and butchered power grids in no time.”

When Murdock saw Captain Striker use similar hand gestures from what Murdock remembered in his past, it kind of helped to relax him a bit. But, it still drove his curiosity to know how this Starfleet captain knew of such gestures that probably hadn't been used or seen in several hundred years.

He watched as Striker managed to take down a couple of the Breen, and then handed Murdock some kind of patches, telling him to slap them on the prisoners.

The Texan nodded, gripping the patches as he rounded the corner and took aim on one of the Breen.

Striker rounded the corner slowly, waiting as Murdock took aim at the Breen target. He thanked god that this mission had gone smoothly so far but still couldn't wait to get back to his ship.

There were things that he needed to do there one of them being checking on Zania and seeing how she was holding up. He was glad that he had heard that she had recovered before he beamed over or he wouldn't have been able to concentrate on the mission because he would be too busy working about her.

Once the helm officer knew that he had a clear shot, he took advantage of it and fired. He couldn't clearly see what happened, not with how they were moving, but he could hear the thud of a body hitting the floor . . . probably from the Breen.

That was three of the five Breen down, but there was no doubt that there were probably more on the way, either. "How close are we to the prisoners?" Murdock wondered, trying to get some kind of an idea of how hard this was going to be for them to get to where the prisoners were being held.

Striker flipped open his tricorder and took a brief scan to get an idea of how close they were. "60 meters." he replied. "We'll get in and out as quickly as possible."

With that he took aim and opened fire on another one of the Breen, who went down like a sack of pototoes.

60 meters wasn't that bad, but with the Breen knowing that they were there, chances were that they were going to end up getting swarmed by them any time now.

Striker was right . . . they had to move quickly.

Gripping the phaser rifle tight, the helm officer rushed out from his place of cover, firing at the last Breen in the area. The alien, wearing the Bobba Fett type mask, fell to the deck in a heap, allowing the Texan to proceed unimpeeded the final 60 meters down the corridor.

When he got to the area, he found a single door. It was shut, and wouldn't open up for him like the doors on the Zealous did when he approached. Glancing at a panel just to the right of the door, there was a flashing red light on there.

"I think it's locked. We're gonna have to blow it, or cut our way through," Murdock noted.

Jason frowned. Things could never be easy, he had planned on this being a simple in and out but instead they had to start picking locks. He refused to let this become more completed than it needed to be. "Blow the door Commander Murdock." he said.

The Texan nodded, and then brought his phaser rifle to bear again, aiming at the panel that had the blinking red light. He figured that if he could blow that panel, the door might open automatically . . . or so he hoped. If that didn't work, he wasn't sure what to do next.

Closing his eyes, he squeezed the trigger and fired .

The door slid halfway open and then stoppped. Jason could see through the open door that there were shadows moving around in the brig, he could also see about 6 or 7 prisoners behind forcefields. For a moment he thought his eyes were decieving him. He could have sworn that he saw a Jem'Hadar in one of the cells.

Sticking his rifle around the corner he fired off several shots in rapid succession, blanketing the room with rapid phaser fire. After a moment he signalled for Murdock to help him pull the door open the rest of the way.

Taking the strap, he slung the phaser rifle over his shoulder and then grabbed onto the door with both hands. He planted his feet down firmly on the floor, using it to brace himself and give him as much leverage as he possibly could achieve.

He looked to Striker, and when he nodded, Murdock gritted his teeth and pulled on the door with all of his might. The only thought that entered into his mind was trying to get that door open wider. They had to get the prisoners out . . .

Sure enough, thanks to their efforts, the door did budge open slightly . . . not much, but just enough for someone who was slender in build to squeeze through. "I think I can make it in there if I end up takin' these rifles off my shoulders," the lanky helm officer noted.

Jason reached out and took the rifles. "Remember slap those Veridium Patches on them and the Avenger will be able to get a transporter lock for beam out."

With that he reached up and tapped his comm-badge =/\= Striker to Oswell. =/\= he said. =/\= We're about to free the prisoners. What is your status? =/\=

While he awaited Oswells answer he turned his attention back to Murdock.

Luke and the rest of his team carried on to the Bridge. Suprisingly, they only encountered a few Breen. A trap, perhaps?
Once on the Bridge the fighting resumed. Yunisca and Muzlok decided to take on the Breen bare handed while Luke shot down two or four Breen. Only the captain was left and Yunisca put him out with the famous Vulcan nerve pinch.

"Not bad for a counselor", Luke said, trying to lighten the dark situation they were in.

"That won't keep him under for long but it may be enough to give the Captain time to get up here. Might want to see if one of you can't shut that alarm off in the mean time, its killing my ears." Yunisca replied.

Luke nodded and fired a couple of shots at the operations station, the alarm died off immediately. As if it was perfectly timed that way Luke's combadge chirped.

=/\= Striker to Osswell. We're about to free the prisoners. What is your status? =/\=

Before Luke could respond Ensign Yunisca tapped her badge, "Captain just to let you
know we have the Breen Captain captured, he's currently been put out. I'm
not sure how long the pinch will hold though".

Luke frowned at Yunisca, certainly she heard that Striker had adressed him? Well, he was not in the mood to tell her that, and anyways, Yunisca had accurately informed the captain.

"I always wondered what's under those helmets", Luke said after a while pointing at one of the Breen. "Maybe this is a good time to find out."

["I always wondered what's under those helmets", Luke said after a while
pointing at one of the Breen. "Maybe this is a good time to find out."]

Ensign Yunisca slowly looked at the one called Oswell. "Excuse me sir, but I don't think removing his helmet is a logical ideal. I told you I don't know how long that pinch will hold, its been years since the last time I ever used it, and Having him wake up with your neck that close to him would be a very bad situation indeed. "

Slowly Ensign Yunisca glance around the bridge. "I hope no one minds me making minor suggestion, but Should we not logically have one of us guarding that entrance to make sure that no other Breen on this ship, that might have been missed, decide to come up here. We don't know how many Captian Striker took out and we don't know how many were on this ship to start. Consedering we incountered some but not as many as I would have expected, the logical step it to now take precations."

Ensign Yunisca waited for a responce from the other two.

Captain Ja'arda overheard the Counselor comment that she thought that the Zealous Captain was in Sickbay. "I was and probably should still be there," Azanialix noted, still leaning heavily on Joy Robinson for support. "But, if there is a situation, it's my duty to do whatever I can to assist."

She listened carefully as the Counselor reported on the situation, which didn't sound good at all. Then, she asked if Zania was going to relieve her of command.

Before the Betazoid could even respond, another officer talked into the room, ordered everyone to their posts, and then proceeded to relief the Counselor from command. Based on the shape of the ears, she was Vulcan, which showed through her take-charge attitude, but she clearly ignored Starfleet protocol.

In general, the senior-most officer present can be the only one to relieve a lower-ranked individual from command. During times of combat, the original ship assignment did not matter, as the senior-most officer present was authorized to take command of any ship. Based on the number of pips on the Vulcan's collar, Azanialix Ja'arda clearly out-ranked her.

When this was all over, she'd definitely have to talk to Jason about that . . .

A few moments later, Ensign Carver from the Zealous spoke up. "Captain, I'm picking up seven more Breen ships," he reported.

"Seven?" Zania asked, somewhat stunned. Whatever was going on, the Breen wasn't about to let the Avenger go that easily. "How long before they arrive?"

"One minute," he announced.

This situation seemed to be going from bad to worse. And, with that many Breen ships approaching at one single time, the first thought that sprung into Zania's mind was a single word . . . trap.

She looked to the Vulcan who put herself in command, trying to see how she was going to handle this, especially since it seemed as if not everyone had returned to the Avenger yet.

Spade watched closely as the list of text and numbers scrolled down the screen showing the status of all the Zealous' systems from a console along the back wall of the Bridge. Repairs were getting done at an acceptional rate. It wouldn't be long now before the Zealous was fit to leave dock. He wondered how the Avenger was doing on its rescue mission and hoped everything was all right. Then he wondered how Ensign Hunter was doing with the patient down in Sickbay.

Tapping his combadge he contacted Hunter. "Ensign Hunter, how is the patient doing?"

"If there is anything you need me to do Lieutenant before I go off duty, I will be glad to assist anyway I can"

"Thank you Ensign. But that won't be necessary. Spade out." After ending his conversation with Blake, Spade looked over again at the list of repairs that were still being done to the Zealous. He decided to contact both Lt. Vaskel and Lt. Broddy to see how they were doing with repairs.

"Lt. Spade to Lt. Vaskel and Lt. Broddy. How are we coming on repairs to the ship? The reason I ask is because, any moment now, we could be called out to assist the Avenger on her rescue mission."

The lanky Texan squeezed his way through the opening that he and Striker had created. It was still a bit of a tight fit, and it took quite a bit of effort, but he managed to get through. In fact, his left foot got caught on the door and fell hard onto the deck, in a move that wasn't too graceful at all.

'Great,' he thought to himself, as he scrambled to his feet. The last thing he needed was to look even more like a fool in front of Striker, much less that senator.

To make matters worse, there were force fields in front of the cells where the senator and his party were being held in. The only way to get them out was to blow the control panels on the forcefields.

He looked through the opening in the main doorway and asked, "Here, can you hand me one of those phasers again?"

He saw as a phaser rifle was passed through the opening, and then grabbed it. He checked the power level, and then raised the weapon and aimed it at one of the control panels that maintained the forcefields to the holding cells. Squeezing the trigger, he fired . . .

The blue force field faded from view, allowing those who were trapped inside to emerge to taste freedom one more time. There was a single prisoner behind another forcefield, and Murdock repeated the same steps with that one as well.

With the last prisoner freed, he pulled out those veridium patches he had been given and handed them to each of the prisoners. "Here, put these on. We've got a ship standing by to beam you the heck outta Dodge."

Murdock moved closer to the door, keeping a close eye on the fallen Jem'Hadar soldiers, who had been brought down by Striker's cover fire. "The prisoners are free and wearing those patches. We can get them outta here," he told Striker. He paused for a moment before asking, "What's goin' on with the other team?"

He was kind of worried about Yunisca, and how she was holding up . . .

Azanialix Ja'arda listened as the Vulcan apologized for not seeing her there, and then watched as she got up from the Command Chair and moved over to another seat. Tenatively, she moved over and sat down in the chair. This was Jason's chair, not her own, so she didn't quite feel comfortable sitting in it. But, with the incoming Breen ships, she knew that if they didn't do something soon, Jason wouldn't have a ship or crew to return to.

She listened as the Vulcan suggested that they cloak, but also knew that if either the shield or cloak were engaged, they couldn't retrieve the away team. But, they couldn't leave them behind either.

"Raise shields, and inform the away team of our status," she ordered. If they knew what was going on, then they could try and handle things on their own end until the Avenger was clear and could retrieve them.

Sure enough, moments later a communication came in from Jason Striker, who was on board one of the Breen ships. He was requesting a beam up, but that couldn't happen with the shields raised. He listened as another officer replied to him, explaining the situation.

She leaned forward slightly in the chair, her dark hair flowing around her shoulders as she ordered, "Helm, take evasive manuvers, pattern Delta-21-Alpha. Lock phasers and quantum torpedos on the lead Breen ship and open fire once they're in range. Remember, target their engines and phasers to disable them. We don't want to destroy them."

No sooner had those words escaped her lips, she focused her attention on another crew member and asked, "How long of a window do we have in between dropping the shields and raising the cloak?"

"About 15 seconds," came the reply.

'Very efficient,' the Betazoid Captain thought to herself before inquiring, "Will that be long enough to beam back the way team, and those that they rescued?"

"No, Captain," the officer responded. "It would take at least one minute."

"Because of the increased number of people to beam back?" she wondered, getting a nod from the officer in return. That wasn't good. Taking a breath, she told him, "See what you can do to cut that time down. If there's a small cargo transporter, use that as well. We've got to get them out of there as quickly as possible once we drop the shields."

She had heard some things about the Avenger from Jason, but didn't know the full capabilities of the ship just yet. But, she didn't want to necessarially take a risk that they'd be able to handle all of the Breen ships alone.

"What's the nearest starbase to us that has a ship that can provide support?" Captain Ja'arda wondered.

"Federation Outpost Regal 1. We just left from there," the Vulcan responded.

"Contact them, and inform them of our situtation. See if they'll dispatch their own ship to rendevous with our location and help with our engagement with the Breen. Also check with them if the Zealous has been repaired enough to join in the battle," she requested.

Zania looked around at the other officers on the Bridge, hoping that they could all come out of this alive.
