Zuub ignores Jennifer as she lifts the furry creature onto the biobed, after an initial scan showing no nervous system injuries. She starts scanning for the cause of this ailment.

She looks at this individual who is identified as Ensign Soban; however, just as she is about to scan further, she hears, "Lt. Chi to the away team, report to the shuttle bay immediately." Zuub mentally sighs. After all, this Ensign looked rather interesting. But, again, she turned to Jennifer and said, "Jennifer, I have to go. You're going to have to look after Ensign Soban as well."

Jennifer replies, "Certainly. I'll do the real work while you go on adventure."

Zuub again mentally sighs, says nothing and heads to the shuttlebay where she sees Counselor Richards and Ensign Jarrold conversing. Zuub's antennae move forward and help her hear more of the conversation than she otherwise would with just her ears. Was Counselor Richards the woman that this Ensign Jarrold loved, as he said? And did Richards return it? Pink skins were so confusing. Why couldn't they be more straight forward?

She gets closer to them and purposely places herself between Richards and Jarrold and says in her soft, wispy voice, "It looks like we are ready for adventure. Where is the rest of our intrepid crew?"

Luke was having a dilemma, he desperately wanted to see Melissa before she went on this mission, to comfort her, and to comfort himself as well. It's never easy when the person you love risks her life without you around to protect her.
But he also had to remain at tactical in case the Tarmon Ay showed up. Still, the urge to see her increased, up to the point when he was practically jumping from one leg to the other.
'To hell with it', he thought. And the next thing he knew he was standing in the turbolift descending to the hangarbay. If Ducane or any other person might have objected, he wouldn't know, cause he wouldn't have heard it anyhow.

Upon arriving in the hangarbay he saw Melissa standing near the shuttle, and so was Ensign Scott. So this was the third party.
However he decided to ignore these facts and walked straight up to Melissa. She saw him.
'Hello Melissa', he said. 'I wanted to wish you good luck, you'll be in my thoughts..'
Obviously this caused quite a reaction of Scott, but wether he acted on it or not was of no concern now, since all Luke was focusing on was Melissa, everything else was just a big blur.

Jarrold gave her a smile "I've been on a few of these. I'm sure you'll do fine." He wanted to comfort her as much as he could. "Plus I'll be there and won't let anything happen to you."

The Chief Counselor nodded gratefully and was about to speak again when Luke suddenly ran into the shuttlebay.

Her head swung around seeing him and she froze in place as he approached.

Why? It wasn't like anything was going on, and even if it was, she wasn't with anyone anyway. She hadn't made a choice between them, nor Allen Chi.

Luke spoke to her wishing her well.

'Hello Melissa', he said. 'I wanted to wish you good luck, you'll be in my thoughts..'
Obviously this caused quite a reaction of Scott, but whether he acted on it or not was of no concern now, since all Luke was focusing on was Melissa, everything else was just a big blur.

Melissa looked from Scott to Luke and didn't know what to say or do now.

"Thanks.." was all she got out feeling extremely awkward.

Melissa looked from Scott to Luke and didn't know what to say or do now.

"Thanks.." was all she got out feeling extremely awkward.

So this was the person that Melissa had told him about. Jarrold didn't see anything particularly special about him but also admitted that there was nothing particularly impressive about himself either. One thing was certain this guy was extremely bold, either that or just plain rude. Jarrold could sense that he had strong feelings for Melissa but also sensed a certain amount of awkwardness from her at the moment. She was obviously uncomfortable about the situation.

Oswells sudden interruption had annoyed him even more than the way Zuub had cut right into the middle of their talk without any thought or consideration. He was however willing to forgive the Andorian if only based on the fact that she may not have realized that what she did was less than polite. However Oswell had purposely and willfully place himself there. Almost like a jealous child looking for attention. Jarrold could have played his game but thought better of it. Not only for the fact that did Oswell outrank him but also because he didn't want to put any more stress on Melissa than Oswell had by his abrupt appearance.

Still Jarrold could have finished it off right there. He could have easily slipped into the cracks of Oswells mind and turned his brain to mush. But no that wasn't the way to handle it. Melissa would have to make the decision for herself as to what she was going to do and turning Oswell into a vegetable wouldn't be a good way for him to convince her that he was the right person for her. Still he was angry at how Oswell had disregarded him as though he was less than nothing.

Jarrold looked past Oswell and at Melissa "I'll see you on the shuttle." he said politely, hoping to alleviate some of the stress of the situation. He then looked at Oswell, still fighting the slight urge to turn his brain into putty.

Jarrold gave Oswell a slight nod. "Lieutenant." he said in acknowledgement of Oswells presence. He then simply walked towards the shuttle and looking over his shoulder gave Zuub a silent signal that it was time to go.

The door to the shuttle opened. Melissa entered stepping up the ramp her head still swimming with what was going on. She glanced up, looked at Zuub and Jarrold, then sat down.

Zuub watched the counselor enter. Zuub neither understood why Scott was clearly uncomfortable and somewhat angry. She hoped that some of that anger was not directed at her.

Jarrold smiled at Melissa as she took a seat. “You okay?” he asked, still upset by Oswell's actions.

“Yes, I'm fine,” Melissa answered softly. “I just want to get this mission over with, I guess.” She looked at him, then quickly away.

Zuub's antennae leaned in towards both Scott and Richards. Clearly something was going on here. Zuub inquired, "What's the hurry, Counselor? We cannot go anywhere without Chi."

“Nothing's the matter,” Melissa answered, her voice betraying a hint of concern. “I just don't want to worry about this anymore.”

“I'm sure this will be a piece of cake,” Jarrold said to Melissa, hoping to comfort her a little. “These things usually go fairly easily. Though I am sure that all of us want to get it over with.”

Zuub agrees readily, "Indeed, Counselor, I'm certain that there is nothing to concern yourself with. Besides, if necessary, I've been trained in combat. Well, I guess all Andorians really learn it by necessity. We have to survive our neighbors. Besides," Zuub hesitates as she recognizes that she was a step away from accidentally revealing Scott's secret, "at least the two of us have some special abilities that should keep everyone safer from harm. Do you not agree?"

“I..agree sure.” Melissa nodded her eyes moving to Zuub. “But the Tarmon Ay are rather strong and powerful. We'll all have to be very careful, and if we're cut off, what do you think the chances are for a rescue?”

“Shouldn't be a problem. I don't think that they would leave us behind,” Jarrold said. “Plus I'm sure that it won't come down to that.” He was grateful to Zuub for not mentioning his little secret but thought that may knowing that he was more than he seemed would make her feel slightly better. “I'm going to tell you something that Ensign Zuub is already aware of but I would appreciate it not going any further than that.”

Zuub immediately swings her head to Scott and her antennae lean forward and start to quiver. Was he really going to reveal his secret? If so, then this must be his love. Why did he not tell her so?

Melissa looked at Jarrold then gave a single nod. “Just like a counseling session, Jarrold. I don't talk about anything I'm told in confidence.”

Jarrold look into her eyes and instead of saying it worth words he decided thoughts might be a better way to express it. Touching the minds of both Melissa and Zuub he projected. 'I'm an uncommonly strong telepath as well as a telekinetic.' He then switched to words. “There are other things that I can do but these are what I find easiest.”

Zuub rubs her head as the mental projection comes across. She's more empathic than telepathic, for the telepathic bond is only really meant for her final puberty and total bonding with her soul mate. She says, "Next time, would you mind turning down the volume. I am not as strong as you and the strong messages do tend to give me a bit of anantennae ache." Zuub's antennae sway drunkenly. She then turns to the counselor, "So, you see, there is nothing to fear. I believe there was an ancient Earth President that said the truth. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."

Melissa was not only surprised, she was a little unerved. She glanced at Zuub, then back to Scott. “Why haven't you told Starfleet?”

“Starfleet Medical is aware and has the files under wraps,” he quickly answered. “As you know there aren't many pure humans that are born with these abilities and certain none that are possessed with my, shall we say, prowess.” He thought back to all of the experiments that they had done on him when he was younger and quickly dismissed the not so fond memories. “I spent some time held against my will when I was younger. Some people were interested in learning how I developed these abilities and it took my paarents and Starfleet nearly a year to find me. Since then everyone thought it better that I not reveal my secret to anyone.”

“I guess I can see that.” Melissa shrugged. “On Betazed, it's different. Such abilities are welcomed. It's interesting because, I usually can't truly speak telepathically when anyone but another Betazoid. I can sense emotions and feelings though.”

Jarrold smiled internally, now she knew his secret they had something in common. “When my abilities were first developing I went to live on Vulcan but they didn't understand my abilities so much. Being touch telepaths it was difficult for them to work with me so I was sent to live in Betazed from the time I was 10 until I was 13. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm aware of the Betazoid welcoming of the mind touch but I want to assure you that I will never do so without your consent.”

Zuub finds this entire conversation rather fascinating. She decides that Richards and Scott must be the people that she was told that each was in love or almost in love with. Indeed, she decides that further attempting to entice Scott would not be appropriate at this time. Besides, there was that interesting looking fuzz ball Soban that entered her sickbay, as well as that human that was rather shocked by her appearance. He probably had plenty of endurance to keep her satisfied. Zuub then says, "It was only by medical scan when the crystals affected Scott that I became aware of his abilities. I never meant to intrude."

Melissa looked at each one again. “You didn't mention you were on Betazed before,” Melissa answered quietly. “Where were you?”

“I lived at the Institute of Mental Study near Jentor-Bazal. Though I was allowed to make trips to other places frequently. They encouraged me to use my telepathy anytime that I could, sometimes not allowing me to use spoken word at all,” Jarrold said smiling at the fun times that he had there.

“I was in Terizon-Noki, the upper section." Melissa replied with a smile. “My family has a nice home there.”

Zuub inquires, "Really? Does it have lots of livestock and land?!"

Richards responded, “No, it's the upper more affluent area of the province. A lot of influential people live there, including my father.”

Jarrold let out a small chuckle at the situation. Had Zuub not been here and had they not been in shuttle preparing for a mission this might almost have been their second date. “I've actually never been there,” he said.

Zuub's antennae bolt dead straight when she hears the Counselor's comments. Her voice becomes incredibly monotone and inquires, "Are you telling me that my family is not influential? Are you further telling me that livestock is not an honorable and affluent living?"

Melissa blinked in surprise. “Excuse me?” She looked at Jarrold wondering what she'd said.

Jarrold smiled at Melissa and then at Zuub “I don't think that she's saying that at all,” he said. “We're both sure that your family is very affluent. The care of livestock has always been on many worlds. I think she's just saying that her family is in another field. My own family can be traced back to farmer and herders as far back as ancient Japan on Earth and they were members of the Emperor's court for centuries.”

Zuub turns to Scott slowly, "I am certain that the Counselor can speak for herself, though I do appreciate your view point." She looks back at Richards, again. "Tell me, Counselor, what did you mean?"

“I meant that where my family lives is one of the upper class areas of Betazed and that my family is considered important." Melissa's voice was a little indignant. “It has nothing to do with you or yours, I was simply making a statement about my world.”

Jarrold decided that now would be the best time to shut his mouth. It was apparent that Melissa could more than handle herself. He simply sat back and tried his best not to get some of the fire directed towards him.

“Why are you so defensive, Ensign Zuub?” Melissa inquired. “There's nothing to be concerned about.”

Zuub responded, "When I mentioned the livestock and land, you mentioned that in the contrary, your family is in a more affluent area. To me, that said that livestock and land is not honorable or affluent."

“You misheard what I meant, I guess.” Melissa sighed.

"And you meant what?" Zuub retorted.

“I meant that my family has influence. I'm sure on your world, yours does as well.” Melissa looked at Jarrold seeing he'd chosen to stay out of this catfight.

"Very well." Zuub returns to her normalsoft, wispy voice, "As long as you were not slighting my family. You do realize that Andorian society has much to do with its food, right?"

“No, to be honest, I know very little about Andorian society, but I'm willing to listen and learn.” It was a compromise, but Melissa was glad this minor misconception seemed to be solved.

"Very well, Counselor. I have more questions for you about other cultures but I will get to them at another time."

Postby Zania Jaarda » Mon Nov 29, 2004 1:12 pm

Captain Ja'arda felt something poking her in her leg. It was kind of strange since she hadn't remembered that sensation before falling asleep on the shuttle. Then again, there was no telling what could have happened between then and now.

She tried to open her eyes, but all she could see was darkness. Had something been put over her eyes so she couldn't see what was going on? That would lead to the conclusion that she had probably been kidnapped yet again. But, if that was true, who was holding her? What happened to the others?

It wasn't just one thing that was poking her, but several. And, to top things off, they were sharp. Pins maybe? A surgical needle? For a moment, it felt like there were thousands of them.

Then, without warning, the sensation changed. Instead of poking her, the sharp objects were being dragged across her skin. It was light at first, but soon it was harder, threatening to go deeper into her skin. Her cells triggered a sensation of pain, which caused her to grit her grimace.

Despite her facial reaction, her torturer persisted. The sharp objects dug into her skin, piercing it, before being dragged across and opening up gaping wounds. The smell of blood was strong as it began to flow from her veins, meeting fresh air in a way that it shouldn't.

Azanialix tried to scream, to find relief for the pain, but found that nothing came out of her mouth . . .

Zania's eyes snapped open and she looked around her. She was panting, trying to catch her breath, almost as if her torture within the nighmare had increased her adrenaline level.

The Betazoid's head was pounding, probably as a result of drinking so much Romulan Ale. Well, another part of it was probably due to the dream that she just experienced. She didn't know what caused it, but it seemed so vivid.

Could it have been a surpressed memory? Or even a premonition of things to come? If it was a vision of the future, who or what had been behind her torture? Were those claws off the Construct or Beast, or did it come from something else entirely?

Slowly looking around her, as to not make her headache worse, she could see that Jake was sleeping on top of her. A sensation of pins and needles could be felt within one of her legs. It was the same leg from her dream.

Jake's weight had probably stemmed off the blood flow, leading to the feeling of pins and needles.

Well, at least the nightmare wasn't real. That was a huge relief in an of itself. What she wasn't looking forward to, though, was returning to the Zealous and having the rest of her crew seeing her hung over.

Turning to Lorena and Murdock, she wondered, "How far are we from the Zealous?"

Jake just nodded without saying anything, indicating that he was ready to go. As soon as Chi finished, he stepped up to the shuttle and smiled politely as he let the others go in before him.
It was true Jake was a little nervous about this mission. But he also felt excited and couln't wait for them to begin. As he looked at the faces of Counciler Richards, and Ensigns Zuub and Scott he couldn't tell what they were thinking or how they felt inside. He, himself, was just a human with no telepathic abilities. And the others, like him, were trying not to let their emotions show.
As Chi went by him he asked, "Sir, would you like me to help you at the front of the shuttle?"

Reminicing

Postby Alexander » Mon Nov 29, 2004 6:22 pm

Thomas couldn't place it but there was something wrong. He hadn't noticed it in the Sickbay but there was something different about the ship. It suddenly came to him when he passed by an information terminal, the ship was in yellow alert. Oh right, he had heard the Zealous was about to leave on a mission when he had come aboard. That must have been where the Andorian had gone, some away team or battle position.
Anyway he had better head to engineering, they probably didn't need him and there'd be noone to babysit him but there was no better time to learn the ins and outs of the ship than during a battle, if it came to that. Maybe he'd get to see what a Prometheous class vessel was realy capable of. When he got to engineering everone and everything seemed in a state of readyness and he could almost smell the nervous anxiousness of waiting coming from every single person.
He couldn't remember where exactly they were headed, behind enemy lines but what enemy was it? It seemed to be right at the back of his mind somewhere but all the thinking couldn't bring the name to mind.
He could remember his father talking of battle in space. How sterile space could be and how it swallowed the cries of the dead. Not like battles on planets he had said, there you saw the people you killed die. There you'd see the light go out of their eyes. 'No' he said 'space was a more romantice arena of warfare, more glorious by far.' How Thomas missed his father, he couldn't remember much about him but he did remember his father teaching him to be a man. He would never be the man his father was but maybe some day he would live up to his fathers hopes, perhaps God would make him into a good man like his father.

Spade nodded to Chi and took his place in seat at the front of the shuttle. He watched as the shuttle bay doors opened and felt the Seine lift up off the deck and fly out into space.
He was glad they had finally got started with this mission. He turned and nodded to Scott who sat just behind him and began monitoring his sensors.

Chi ordered, "Spade, I want you on the sensors keeping a steady scan of the probe as we enter the atmosphere. Scott, as our science officer, I need you to work with Spade to provide a detailed analysis of the technology as soon as we are in range. Zuub, you will be the medical officer in case of any emergencies, asides from that, you will aid in monitoring the boarding party from the shuttle once we dock with the Tarmon Ay craft. McGonaggle, you will be on weapons just in case we run in to any problems. The counsellor will be our psychic sensor to detect any nearby cloaked Tarmon Ay vessels that our sensors may miss. I will be on scanners turned outward to catch any possible threats."

Chi then said, "This is the USS Seine launching now."

Zuub looked at her surroundings. The counselor seemed a bit nervous, but everyone else seemed well into place. Zuub knew that her orders were rather straight forward; however, if something went terribly wrong, her skill and her ability to remain calm in a crisis would be quite necessary. She waited in silence, continuing to observe the crew.

Jarrold returned Spades nodd and gave him a thumbs up, signalling that he was ready. He then began running monitoring his own sensors, putting them on a low power setting to reduce their signature in case the Tarmon Ay were actively searching for sensor scans. After a little bit of reconfiguring he had gotten the shuttles sensors to be just as effective but putting out less of a traceable signal.

He took a quite moment to look over a Melissa and gave her a smile to let her know that everything would be okay. He would be there if she needed him and also she had to do was ask. He would know without her having to say a word.

"We should be able to get in a lot closer to them now sir." he said, turning his attention back to Chi. "Our sensors are running at lower power settings but I've managed to enable maximum proficiency so that we can scan them at a further distance. This should allow us to gather the information that we need before we make it their ship."

Noises…lots of noises…to many….bad noises.

And pain! Now that was a novel form of punishment he had endured with his time with the TTF he felt this was the more painful.

Bring on the scalpels and other assorted tools of torture just…

He reached out with one hand and clamped it firmly across the source of the noise, a small hole. It was moist, wet with…what? Acid saliva of some demonic beast of hellish spawn?

Possibly.

Opening his eyes slowly he quickly shut them, light to much light. Using his other hand, and groaning loudly, he shifted his waist and looked about.

There was Murdock...and Lorena and…

And with a very worried look on her face, which was beginning to turn slightly blue thanks to oxygen deprivation Zania wasn’t looking all to well her self. Removing his hand, careful to rub the remains of her spit and saliva onto her as though he had just been handling some biological hazard he waited a moment.

Slowly moving off her leg he fell side ways.

“I’m just going…to rest here…a spell…” he said almost breathlessly as he tried to combat the pain.

His nanites were able to reassemble a severed limb in mere moments, were able to allow him to breath water and any poisonous atmosphere, even survive in space!

But a simple drink educed hang over head ache was to big a task for them…

“Shuttle Archer?” a voice chirped over the shuttle com system “Shuttle Archer this is the Starfleet Tender Vessel Demois, we have a crew member bound for your ship but unfortunately we’ve been called away to a different sector. We’re beaming her over to you momentarily.”

With out warning a familiar buzzing sound filled the air.

Followed quickly by a howl of pain from Jake. For not only had the Demois beamed over some fresh faced ensign, but they’d beamed her over floating a foot of the floor right above his groin.

“I see…” he squeaked “Stars…so many…”

TAG-Taryn, you’ve made a powerful enemy today haha. Welcome to the show that never ends!

RPG: Ma'riel sat fidgeting in her own little way. She had begun to take up a few bad habits from the Tarmon Ay she had had the presence to be around the past couple months. She had also retained some bad habits from her Starfleet crewmembers. Currently she was chewing on her fingernails. To most humans that would be a deplorable habit, but for some strange reason Ma'riel felt calmed by the action. She still got the ocassional wry look as people passed though.

Her thoughts were soon interrupted by a new presence into the room. She looked quickly and went back to her scans before stopping once again. This new man she didn't recognize, but he did have the Starfleet Engineering uniform on. She quickly illicited the help of another crewman to finish analyzing the scans as she made her way down the ladders to meet the new member of the crew.

"I'm Lt Junior Grade Ma'riel Gine," she said with a pleasant smile and extended her hand to the newcommer. "Welcome aboard the Zealous."

Luke watched Melissa entering the shuttle. A horrofying thought came into mind, what if this was the last time he would ever lay eyes on her? It would be unbearable...

"Mr Oswell, is there a problem", Ducane said through the combadge.

Luke didn't hear it at first. He just kept staring at the shuttle, unable to think about anything but Melissa and hoping she would be alright.

'Mr Osswell?', the combadge sounded again.

'Err, oh, yes I'm here. No problem Sir. Heading back to the Bridge now.', He said a little absent-minded.

He turned around and left the hangar. He turned to look one final time to see the shuttle departing. He let out a deep sigh and headed for the bridge.

Yellow alert

Postby Mariel » Tue Nov 30, 2004 12:27 pm

RPG: Ma'riel had to think for a second at Thomas' question before she answered. "Precaution mostly. Was there anything you wanted to see or help with? As we are entering into enemy territory we use the yellow alert to keep us on our toes. Most of our duties fall to making sure our shields are aligned, that the warp core is functional, and that the toilets are not leaking."

Ma'riel waited for the laugh she hoped would have followed. In all the years that she had spent around humans, humor was one thing she liked. Her teacher back at the academy had to scold her quite a few times for cracking up the class. She would never listen and used the emotion of humor to help people feel at ease and help her fit in. It's not easy being a changeling among those that fear you.

Lorena still hadn't said anything since Captain Ja'arda had blurted out the reason why he was so down in the dumps. He thought she would have at least said something by now, but she was still as deathly silent as the shuttle around them, except for the two drunkards snoring over in the other corner.

They were both snoring, which was amusing in and of itself. If Ti'ana was here, she'd probably rip Jake to shreds for sleeping on top of the Captain, or she'd get a good laugh out of it. Murdock hoped that, if she had been here, she would have at least had a sense of humor and opted for the laugh rather than violence. They had seen enough carnage through Jake's transformations.

Captain Ja'arda seemed to wake up, but it was obvious that she was really hung over. Weakly, she had asked how far they were from the Zealous. He got up from the bench and walked over to the controls, taking a look at the readout.

"Maybe 'bout another hour or two," he replied with a drawl that almost matched the slurring of the Captain's words.

Jake seemed to wake up right around the time that another shuttle contacted them, indicating that they had someone to beam over that was supposed to head to the Zealous. They were being called away on an emergency, so they couldn't take their passenger to the Zealous on their own.

A brief moment later, the form of a female materialized on the shuttle. Her entrance had been anything but spectacular, as she ended up hitting her head against Jake's and colliding with his jewels.

For a moment, he couldn't help but to cringe. Heck, any guy would have done that after seeing another guy subjected to that . . . pain of the worst kind! If this was how this new Zealous crew member made an entrance, he'd definitely have to watch himself.

She apologized, and then introduced herself as Ensign Taryn Ryder. "Lietuenant Commander Murdock, chief helm officer of the Zealous. Over there is Counselor Johnson, Captain Ja'arda, and you already landed on Jake Sjet. You're on the right shuttle, although it seems like you missed one heck of a party," he quipped.

"We should be able to get in a lot closer to them now sir." he said, turning his attention back to Chi. "Our sensors are running at lower power settings but I've managed to enable maximum proficiency so that we can scan them at a further distance. This should allow us to gather the information that we need before we make it their ship."

This was it. This was...REALLY it. Melissa closed her eyes and opened her mind. Searching carefully with her emotions for the Tarmon Ay. Any sign of impending attack or assault. It would be this way throughout the entire mission. Voices in the dark. Whispers through her mind. Last time she'd been safe on the deck of the bridge doing this.

Now, she was in a small shuttle going into their space. She buried the fears she had and concentrated on the mission. All thoughts of the men she couldn't choose between now set in neutral. Full attention was placed soley on the task at hand.

Spade was aware of what Scott was doing from his own console infront of him. "Good job," he said. He was amazed and a little envious that Scott had thought of that. He himself would never have thought do any of that. But he was basically still a rookie on this ship. He would learn these things in time.
Hopefully...
He then remembered that Counciler Richards, in the back, would be searching for Tarmon Aye telepathically. He forced himself to push any thoughts or emotions from his mind so as to make it that much easier for her. It might also save him some embarressment.
Just then a small blip apeared on his sensors. He checked it and nodded.
"Sir, we're almost within visual range of the Tarmon Aye craft." he informed Chi and the rest of the team.

Jarrold started a scan of the Tarmon Ay ship using a low pass filter to further reduce the chances of their scans being detected. Information started to come in as the sensor beam pinged the Tarmon Ay craft. He instantly routed what was coming in to Spade so that they could being their analysis of the ship. As he sent the information he did take a moment to give Melissa a quick, reassuring glance and then looked back down at the console in front of him. The ship that they were heading towards seemed pretty lightly powered, possibly a scout ship of some type. This operation should be simple enough but he would of course leave that for the mission commander to decide.

"You getting his?" he asked Spade "What do you think?"

As the shuttle left the Zealous Joy continued to scan the planets surface for anything that would help or indeed hinder the mission.

The shuttle headed for the north pole of the planet to make it's ascent to the surface as easy as possible.

Joy tracked the shuttle as it entered the upper atmosphere and then progressed towards the Tarmon Ay wreckage. Joy then concentrated on monitoring the landing site. Unfortunately because of the interference it was difficult for the sensors to get a good picture of what was down there. It was definately a ship but beyond that it was difficult to tell. Joy tried modifying the sensors to cut through the interference but the stormy upper atmosphere made any more detailed analysis impossible.

Then out of the corner of her eye she noticed a severe weather system forming south of the shuttle's landing point. It became apparent that it was moving in on the crash site location and at it's current speed would reach them in about 6 hours.

Joy had been working at the back of the bridge and as she looked around Ducane appeared to be in a hushed conversation with Lt Sullivan who Joy had not noticed arrive back on the bridge. Joy walked down to where the other officers were talking.

"Sorry to interupt" Joy said "there is a severe storm moving in to the crash site. It will arrive in approximately 6 hours. It will make conditions a little more difficult for the salvage team but not impossible" Joy paused and then continued "but the main problem is that it will almost certainly severely disrupt communication between us and the shuttlecraft"

"You getting his?" Scott asked Spade "What do you think?"

"Yes," Jake replied. The information had started coming in at a slow rate. But then it started to steadily increase in speed. He was momentarily taken aback at all the information that was coming in.
"We're getting a lot more information than I had originally expected," he admitted, "It appears to be a scout ship of some kind. But still pretty heavily armed."
"Should we dock with ship?" he asked Chi.

To a certain degree, Captain Ja'arda was thankful for one thing - the fact that she wasn't wearing her Starfleet uniform. She was still in the civilian clothing she had worn during the trip to Mars, as there hadn't been time nor the privacy for her to change.

In a way, it was a bit of a welcome relief. It probably wouldn't bode very well on first impressions if a new crew member to the Zealous saw the Betazoid Captain severely hung over, and in uniform.

Lorena had asked Zania if she wanted an aspirin. Was the effect from her hangover that apparent?

She shook her head, although immediately regretted it with how dizzy she became. As soon as everything stopped spinning, she told the Counselor, "No thanks. I was responsible for getting myself in this condition, and I'd rather not have any type of medication administered to relieve the current symptoms."

Slowly getting up to her feet, she walked over to Taryn, very nearly loosing her balance a couple of times in the process. Extending a hand, Azanialix greeted, "Welcome aboard, Ensign. It may be a couple of hours before we rendevous with the Zealous. Please, have a seat, feel free to settle in and ask any questions that you may have about the ship and the crew until we arrive."

Well, she tried to greet Taryn warmly, the Captain wasn't sure just how well that went over considering how her head was pounding at that exact moment in time. Still, the new officer's entrance was something which would probably be talked about for quite some time.

Then again, the Zealous seemed to be a ship where legends were born . . .

Falling…pain beyond words…mild concussion and an odd sense of fulfilment. If Jakes mind wasn’t diving into a day dream to escape the pain of reality right then. He would have squeaked like a mouse on a three day bender of helium.

“Yeah,” Jake was able to groan out as he rolled into a foetal position on the floor “We’re headed that way…” Rolling over he sighed heavily, still recoiling from the now numbing pain in his neither regions.

“Okay…falling I can forgive…but…neutering me? God I’m glad high heels are not Starfleet issues…” he closed his eyes, the scent of...of what smelt like wood chippings still lingered on like a dulled memory.
Maybe it was his bodies way of saying 'Ya wanted kids, well so did we.'

“Well just so…you…” his voice stalled.

More pain, a fiery ember of nova like light seeming to grown from his chest. Its light was clearly visible from under his plain white shirt and with vigour he clutched at his chest. Gnarling his teeth and arching his back he danced in pain on the floor.

“Gah!” he called out, as a sickly screen era appeared on his arm. A small octagon of rough, shiny scale “Get…Back! Get out!”

His call went unheralded as he continued to arch his back, each peak seeming to rise above the next until he was arched from his head to the tips of his stretched out toes.
And then it happened.

The scale simple vanished and then a spray of fine blue glowing pellets ejected themselves in a nearly continuous breath of cold fire. Each pellet lifted up towards the ceiling of the shuttle craft, attracted momentarily by the polarity of the circuitry in the shuttles dorsal hull structure.

Soon the metallic roof above their heads was coated in a fine film of blue pellets, each on seeming to float like plankton caught on a current of water.
Groaning heavily, and now lying on his back Jake looked up.
“Oh sh-”

Out side of the shuttle craft a brilliant blue light exploded from the canopy like a heavenly invitation. On the inside, it was anything but heavenly. Every surface, from floor to ceiling to control was coated in a goo, steaming mess that smelled of bile and alcohol mixed together in some unholy alliance.

And as for the people? Well, they wouldn’t look to much out of place in a Smurf convention.
Looking around Jake smiled sheepishly at all, as Zania looked around her in shell shock and then at her hand, and as the new ensign carefully wiped the fine stinking filth from her eyes.

“Er…Pepto-Bismol anyone?” he asked.
