Childhood:
On an old Klingon colony world, only a few light years from Qonos, there are a a million Klingons who with their servitors raise the majority of the food eaten in the empire, from targ to gagh, yuch to rokeg, the planet is devoted to production of both staple foods and delicacies. It was on this planet, called Satlh, that Chugosh was raised for his first years, digging in the dirt and herding beasts.

One day when he was eight or so, three older boys hassled him and his sisters as they were on their way home to lunch. One of his sisters was pushed into the dirt, and Chugosh attacked the three bullies with warrior like frenzy. When he was done he had sealed his fate by sending two of the boys to the hospital, only minimally injuring the third, which was forced to run. The boys had been warrior caste and he was only a farmer, so he was blamed and made an example of, serving ten years of hard labor. Noticing his abilities, but unable to formally train Chugosh, many of his more noble guards showed him little hints about fighting and honor. Seeing his intelligence, they gave him instruction in engineering and science, putting him in positions to gain experience. It was only a tiny amount of training, but enough to set him on a course out of his caste and into battle. His childhood ended when the prison sold him to a cargo ship captain.

Service Record/Career History:
After five years serving on a cargo transport with of exemplary Service as an indentured crewman, Chugosh had earned his freedom. Instead of taking the captain up on an offer to work for him, he went right from the starport to the enlistment center and signed up as an infantry fighter.

The war with the Dominion finished a training that he would never have had otherwise. The desperation of high command for replacement troops saw to it that they were no longer able to afford any prejudice towards his farmer and criminal background. Showing intelligence, cunning, tenacity and ferocity to his commanders, he quickly rose through the enlisted ranks. Seeing his abilities grow, they sent him to a brief officer’s school and then gave him a commission as a Lagh.

The RanKuf was his first post as an officer. In the time he there served, he advanced in rank to Sogh Lagh and assumed command of the engineering department. In the last mission of the Rankuf, the Bird of Prey class scout ship was sucked back in time to the era of the Klingon Gods, before the time of the much heard of Kahless. There they fought against a Romulan invasion force, only to discover that the Q were themselves involved in the situation. At the last moments, they prevailed, running ahead of a fleet of time travelling romulans into a supernova, which destroyed the romulans and cast the Rankuf back to near its own time, but with so much damage, it soon fell to pieces. Chugosh was the only one he knew of to escape the wreck on one of the ship's tiny shuttles.

Slowly, he made his way to Klingon space. There he was taken and questioned. His story was one that even Kirk or Picard would have trouble selling. As for Chugosh, he was convicted of the loss of his ship and desertion, but with evidence weak enough that he was not killed on the spot, but sentenced to thirteen months in the mines of Ruhra Pente.

As he finished his sentance and was released, he found no welcome in all the empire. He began to travel, finding passage to whatever remote place on whatever vessel. Just so, he finds himself travelling aboard the Zealous.

Personality:
Chugosh, instead of having been hardened by his life of prison and servitude, is fairly happy, and it shows. He is quite aware of how lucky he is, and sees no reason his overall luck should change. However he can be pushed too far and the change is like night and day.

He’s a little sensitive about his peasant lineage, but tries to handle it with honor. He doesn’t bother to hide his scars nor his convict brands old or new. He loves his family and writes home often, but can never see them again as it might dishonor them, a multiple convict in the family. Maybe someday his honor will outweigh that disgrace. On the other hand, it's a wide universe.
