A few changes regarding LOAs

Postby Zania Jaarda » Sat Feb 19, 2005 12:04 am

Taking a Leave of Absence from a sim is something that is a privelage, in many ways. It's meant as a way to give simmers some time off, where they can rest, relax, refresh their creative and mental energies, or even to utilize the time in order to concentrate on personal matters.

Alex, Jake, and myself are not unreasonable people. We completely and totally understand what it's like to have family matters, school-related matters, work issues, etc. We actually tend to be more lenient with LOAs than most.

Unfortunately, it has become apparent that some have abused this, requesting LOAs but never returning, even in a period where they could, potentially, return. It's unfortunate that some have decided to do this, which now puts us, the hosts, in a position were we have to make some tough choices.

Here are the changes:

1) All requests for LOAs, from now on, need to be filled out through the following website: http://zealous.slasims.com/loa.php . There, you can give an indication of just how long you think your LOA may last. Also, you can select whether or not you will permit your character to be NPCed, which can be a great way to keep your character involved in the storyline until your return.

2) LOAs lasting over three weeks will be removed from the mailstring. When you're busy with things in your real live, we know that getting e-mail from a very active mailstring is the last thing you want.

3) LOAs lasting over three weeks are subject to removal from the main roster. There will be a seperate roster for those who are on extended LOAs. Crew members who are listed there can return to the Zealous after speaking with a host, retaining their rank and the number of posts made since their last promotion.

Department heads are the only exceptions to this, as some of them have worked hard to get where they are at currently. As such, it would be unfair to remove them from that position without speaking to them first.

If anyone has comments, questions, or complaints about these changes, please don't hesitate to contact myself, Jake Sjet, or Alex Ducane!
