Okay this, once again, is the combination of Sjet's and my ideas.

The Zealous has just finished delivering the last of the supplies to the newly built Condra Ship Yards, located on the edge of Alpha Quadrent. A long range sensor scan has detected an unusual subspace distortion a few light years from the yards. The USS Zealous is sent to invetigate. due to the appearent violent and dangerous distortion, all nonesential personel are evacuated from the Zealous. So the only people left are us, and several science officers. The crew spends a few days investigating the phonominon. As the Zealous gets a little closer to run additional scans, a large graviton field engulfs the ship. The Zealous strugles to free itself, but fails and is pulled into the distortion.

In the distortion the crew dicovers that it is nothing like the senors told them it was like. Instead of a violent storm, it is a peaceful paridise. They crew also discovers the Phoniex. An away team is sent over. The away team finds themselves in complete darkness. They switch on the wrist beacons (flashlights attached to the wrist) and look around. They attempt to contact the ship and realize communication is down. (After they realize this, the fun really begins) The team starts hearing strange noises. Such as the swishing of an ax or the swoosh of the automatic doors opening and closing. The temperature drops. As people look around the room they see something in the shadows but when they shine light on it there is nothing there. The temperature has now dropped so low that the team can see their breath coming out of their mouths. And when they think it cannot become any scarier, they hear a sinister laugh. And then a bone chilling scream. They investigate and find the bodies of most of the crew. As they turn to leave teh "cofin" the away team meets a living person in a NX class unifform. He starts to speak, "They wouldn't stop talking...they were going to kill me...kill us..." the Phenoix crewman runs at the away team and they away team fires their phasers in defense. But when the phasers hit him, he just vanishes....

On the Zealous as soon as the realize contact is lost they attempt to beam up the away team. But something else happens. Rather then beam up the away team, they beam up the several people all in uniforms of the NX Class Starship, all dead. Ths ship goes to red alert and as soon as it happens the power to the ship fails. The only source of light ,comes from red alert signals which cast an eerie blood like glow over everything. The people on the bridge start seeing things in the darkness, in between the blinking red alert warnings. The comm system activates and the bridge crew hears blood chilling screams of terror, pain, and suffering. A few of the junior officers walk backward towards the turbolift terrified. As they reach it they turn to enter it. But the doors don't open. Suddenly, a large impact is heard near the back of the bridge. Everyone turns and sees the two ensigns and the turbolift door. The door has a large impact on it. It looks as if something very large has punched the door. The red alert warnings fade into darkness again, and another large clank is heard. When the eerie red glow returns another indent is found on the door. The red alert fades again, and this time two clanks are heard, as the blood like glow returns another indent is on the turbolift door and one on the captains ready room door. The lights fade again, and two more clanks are heard as more indents are made. The lights come back and go back off. But no clanks are heard again, this time the comm system comes back on again, and a terrifying voice starts to speak, "You cannot keep me out, forever" says the voice. The light comes back on, and go back off. Once again no more clanks are heard, but the comm system comes back on, however it is not the voice, at least not a single voice, the sounds are screams once again, the screams of terrified people, of people in pain, of people being tortured. The comm system shuts off as the blood lights return. They go down again and the clanks start up again. The ship suddenly regains some power. The transporters mysteriously activate and transport everyone on the ship onto a different deck (there should not be more then fourteen people on the ship, with part of the crew on the Pheonix.)

Well this is just an idea, and if we do this mission any of the above could and is likly to change during the mission. And if any of you have an idea of how to make this better, feel free to reply to this with changes. The thing that I had in mind that is causing everything is a being of sometype (energy, matter, who knows?) who feeds off fear, and has been sustained by the fear he got from the Pheniox crew, who all died of fear.

This sounds like it's going to be an awesome idea! Depending on how long it takes us with the other storylines, this one would almost be perfect to start or get into the heart of right around Halloween!

How about we are ordered to do a war game. We are ordered to do a simulated battle with against two Defiants, or whatever. Just a simply idea, but could be lots of fun.

Another great idea! If we don't want to go with two Defiants, we could go up against a Galaxy-class (perhaps even the Enterprise, with cameos from the TNG crew, heh), or we could engage the multi-vector mode of the Zealous and have each section go up against the other one.

Sounds kind'a un fair, youkn ow three agaist three. We'd end up with two on one. Unless we made it a war game leaning on the idea of winning agaist the odds.

Three against three is not uncommon. There are local basketball tournaments that do that all the time!

Even if we don't make it a war game, it could still be interesting. What if, for instance, the ship separated into mult-vector mode and two groups beamed aboard, comandeering two of the vectors of the Zealous? Those two groups would be at war with each other, and also hate the Federation.

That would definitely make it high-stakes!

good idea, though its a little similar to this one we're doing at the moment.

Reading back through the summary that Mr. Dillard has been keeping up with (with big kudos for all of the effort he has put in on it), it looks as if we got close, but didn't actually get that far.

It's still an idea that could be employed sometime down the road. We certainly wouldn't want to use it too early. It's not a good idea to over-use certain plot devices within a short amount of time.

The USS Zealous is given the mission of protecting three members of the Federation Council. (they can be from what ever Planet its not crucial to the plot.) We are to transport them to Bajor, where they will attend the signing of the document which admits Bajor into the Federation. But as this time of celebration draws near, a few of the old Bajoran rivalries strikes up. And two or three of the old resistance groups are determined to stop Bajor's admittance to the Federation by any means necessary.

Sounds like another winning idea! I can't wait to see all of these used within the game!

Aboard the Zealous, a member of the crew runs a holodeck program. It can be any program, but preferrably something adventurous and with some risk of injury.

A power surge on the holodeck disables the safety protocals, which could yield deadly results. Any attempt to shut down the program would overload the power system even further, resulting in severely disabling the Zealous and possibly contributing to an anti-matter containment breech.

To futher complicate matters, the holoprojectors on the ship, which allow the EMH to operate anywhere without being restricted to sickbay, have started to allow the program to expand outside of the holodeck and cannot be deactivated. This places the entire Zealous crew in danger.

There would be a few goals, although accomplishing one of the last two would eliminate the threat:

1) Keep the crew safe from harm from whatever holograms traverse the ship via the holoprojectors;
2) Find a way to disable the holoprojectors throughout the ship;
3) Re-route sub-commands to reactivate the safety protocals;
4) Discover a way to shut down the program.

Here's an idea that I came up with that would probably be divided into parts because of the complexity of the storylines. The title is very tentative.

A Tratior In The Midst, Part 1

Starfleet has started to hear rumors that a very hostile, terrorist cell of the Enlightened Mind Movement (EMM) have started to plan something which could have the potential of destroying Starfleet, and turning member worlds against the United Federation of Planets.

The Federation decides to send the Zealous to investigate.

This plays right into the hands of the EMM, sending one of their targets to them: Azanialix Ja'arda, CO of the USS Zealous.

During the investigation, several members of the EMM attempt to assassinate Captain Ja'arda. She comes face to face with the leaders of the attempt: Xuellan Laux, Tajol Laux, and Savonne Laux, her own father and siblings.

Starfleet, however, is more concerned with the fact that several members of Captain Ja'arda's family have joined and are actively partciipating in a terrorist plot. Fearing that Captain Ja'arda will turn traitor and join them, they decide to bring her before a Board of Inquiry.

Can Captain Ja'arda's career survive?

A Tratior In The Midst, Part 2

As the evidence mounts against Captain Ja'arda at her Inquiry, it begins to look as if she really may be working for the EMM and is a traitor to the Federation. She then makes a drastic decision. She resigns her Starfleet commission before the Board can make the recommendation for court martial proceedings.

Azanialix sets out on her own, eventually locating her father and siblings. Expressing how Starfleet betrayed her, she offers to join them and the EMM in their fight against the Federation.

As a way to test Azanialix's loyalty, they involve her in a terrorism plot: to undermine the Klingon-Federation treaty and turn the two former enemies against each other once again.

With Captain Ja'arda's resignment from Starfleet, Zane Dillard is placed in command of the Zealous, which is sent to investigate a report from the Klingon High Command.

What soon becomes apparent, through a secret rendezvous with Dillard, is that everything was a set-up . . . the evidence against Captain Ja'arda, the resignation, etc. It was part of a plan constructed by Admiral Granger to publically discredit Ja'arda so she could infiltrate the EMM and gather more specific information on their large-scale terrorism plot.

Azanialix's father and siblings are suspicious of her loyalty, but thankfully do not learn of her encounter with Dillard . . . yet. However, they happen to get lucky when a Zealous away team beams down. They surprise them, wounding most of the members and taking Dillard prisoner.

Scanning Dillard's mind against his will, Xuellan, Tajol, and Savonne Laux learn of Azanialix's deception. The claim that she had been betrayed by Starfleet was false . . . they were the ones that she was really betraying.

Xuellan orders that Ja'arda and Dillard are to be executed for their treachery as an example to the Federation. The problem for them becomes how to escape when those who hold you captive can read your mind.

Can they escape, or can a rescue be mounted in time before the Laux's carry out the killings?

A Traitor In The Midst, Part 3

Learning of the fate of the away team and Dillard, the second officer (or senior most officer) is now in command. By this time, the entire crew has found out that Captain Ja'arda's inquiry and resignation were faked for a mission . . . which apparently has taken a serious turn for the worst.

To make matters worse, some members of the Zealous crew may not be willing to follow the command of their new temporary CO. This breeds a lot of infighting and tension which needs to be overcome if there is any hope of rescuing Dillard and Ja'arda.

A new away team is formed and, somehow, manage to free the prisoners of the EMM. Once she is back aboard the Zealous, Captain Ja'arda immediately contacts Starfleet to relay the details of the large-scale terrorism plot the EMM is planning.

The Federation orders the Zealous to avert the plot, no matter the cost. They eventually catch up to the EMM, and this leads to a battle against several ships, which would require the Zealous to engage multi-vector mode in order to maintain a strategic advantage.

Although the Zealous would ultimately be successful, Xuellan, Tajol and Savonne Laux, along with other top-ranking members of the EMM, manage to escape. (Their escape could lead to other future storylines with the EMM and the Laux's as the antagonists.)

That was just a rough idea, and there is probably a LOT that would need to be fine-tuned, but it's something that could give everyone a chance to do something . . . whether it's testifying at the Captain's Board of Inquiry hearing, or participating in an away mission to rescue both Ja'arda and Dillard.

What do you guys think?

We, the crew of the ship Zealous have been given the honor, or horror, of appearing on the Federation Broadcaste News feature 48 Hours. This is where a FBN news crew come aboard ship and begin asking very odd questions.
To add to our captains worry (Where are they? The warp core, aw heck, just leave'em in there!) we're called away to fight the (add enemy here), possible one of your new speices Captain.
After we kick their sorry butts we're called back to Federation space, where we are told we could have avoid the sorry affair by not firing first. Of course we didn't fire first but all sensor records are blacked out. The only rcording of the battle comes from the holocamera of the news crew, who ave just aired it.
Nice, simple, funny, and with a battle in it. Whta more could we ask for!

(Just a note to anyoe posting after this storyline, the idea for my character to cure himself while fail, and in the process destroy the transporter room.)

Home is where the heart is....

Okay, the Zealous is in Space Dock having the paint job it so rightly deserves after our last post, or if this is used futher on in the game then it just ramdom shore leave.
Ensign Jake Sjet and some else is transiting from the planet to the ship via on of its shuttles whne suddney I over power who ever is accompanying me. Thats when the shuttle engages warp and is gone.
Soon after this the Zealous gives persut with its skelington crew, leaving the ret on those beachs and bars. Soon after this the shuttle is found crashed landed on a jungle like world, along with hundreds of other small craft and maybe on big one, inside we find the person I'd knocked out coccooned to the cieling of the shuttle, not infected with anything just to keep him/her tout of Jakes way. Soon after they get the poor person down the away team is attacked by a hoard of reptile like cretures resitant to phaser blasts. Using the downed shuttle as a bunker the federation away tem is able to hold up until reinforcements can get them off the planet, transporters don't seem to work.
One of the reptiles has a few scraps of federation uniform still cluning to spikes or talons while the combadge is found in the wreckage. Some of the away team believe that that alien has killed Ensign Sjet while one of them who nows the truth about Sjet try to keep the rest from killing it.
While out of contact with the away team the Zealous make a rather startling, the world their orbiting is in fact an Iconian Prison planet for thing like Valron. They have deep mental conditioning to make sure if they ever escape the planet they will automatically return to it by any means. They also find a Iconian portal in orbit that will take them to the master control factility inside the planet where they can deactivate the homing intinct of the inmates.
But do the crew stop the beacon, thus releasing the inmates of the prison planet to roam free across the galaxy? Or do they leave the Ensign behind as a causalty?

Both are really great ideas, Jake! The news coverage idea is very underused and could make for a very interesting story!

The True Federation

Okay, this is a plot reversal and I will not feel offended if people laugh at it and poke holes in it.
Here we go....

We're on our way back to dry dock for some R&R (Retching & Restorastion) when one of the Ferengi prisoneers makes a bargin with us for a shorter sentence or something. He tells us of an organisation which they were part of, The True Federation, a lose coalistion of Federation races bent on one thing.
Riding the Federation of all hybrid aliens, that means half huamns, half vulcans, half betazeds and unfortunatly Trills (obviously they don't like two in one deals). We then learn that they lured the Zealous into a fight where she would be badly damaged and need dry dock time, and that the Daimon beaming off the maurder was infact beamed onto a cloack TTF bird of prey and was spirited away.
Their intentions were not clear, but they did wish to assasinate a captain in Starfleet who is a hybrid betazed, and also happens to be a part of a royal house (paging our new captain.) that was the reason she was being transported on the Maurader, so that the crew ould have to save her and get their butts kicked in the process.
They then plan to blow up the dry dock base that the Zealous is morred to to make it look like an accident. But with advance warning we're able to send an away team ahead of us to scout out the area and secure the drydock area we'll be attached to. In the process of this the team iscontact as soon as the land, informing them they've been invited (at phaser point) to meet the leader of this shamless organisation (which we'll no doubt find has connections with Section31.) The rest of this plot line I leave to everyone else with a fertile imaginastion.

Sounds like another interesting storyline, Jake! It goes back to the roots of a basic issue: prejudice. Sometimes, those are the easiest storylines to come up with, but can carry and extremely powerful message within the game.

It'd be interesting to see how this one plays out, especially if we might expand it to include Sela (the half-Human/half-Romulan daughter of Tasha Yar). That would definitely be a twist!

This is a post myself and the captain have been working on for a while (its the 13 of aug 03). it's suppose to be away to allow my character to control the transformations. What do you guys think? (If its a good one I was thinking of letting it go next week after our captain comes back form her hol)

Captain Ja'arda was in her Ready Room, looking over more reports of upgrades to the Zealous. Things were coming along very nicely, and it probably wouldn't be too much longer before the ship could leave Starbase 183.
That meant that the crew had a short time to still get in a bit of R&R before departure.
The chime resounded through the room, indicating that there was someone outside, wanting to speak with her. "Come in."
"Lt Dillard-"Jake walked in, hoping to find Lt Dillard there so he could apologise for the destruction of the Cargo Bay, only to find some one else with Captains pips on her collar "Your not Dillard are you?"
Azanialix's dark hair flowed around her shoulders as she looked up at her visitor. "No, I'm not. Captain Azanialix Ja'arda, and you are?"
"Er, ma'am, sir, Captain." Jake stammered to find the right phrase "I am Jake Sjet. Medical Ensign." Oh, great first impression Jake thought.
The Betazoid smiled at him warmly, hoping that he would find it comforting and relax. "Seeing that Mr. Dillard is not here in the Ready Room, is there anything I can do for you, Ensign?" she inquired.
"Er, well. I had come here to apologise about, a medical procedure." Jake said as his gut began a series of high gee combat manoeuvres that would have made the Red Arrows proud.
"Please, sit down," she offered, gesturing to a chair on the other side of the desk that she sat behind. "What medical procedure do you feel that you need to apologize for?"
Jake took the chair, which felt like the electric chair "Well, where to begin. I wished to use a transporter to rid my body of a second DNA helix witch was the cause of the new ventilation hatch on the bridge." Jake said, hoping the ships new captain had noticed the hole.
Captain Ja'arda nodded. The repair crews from the Starbase had been progressing rapidly and already patched up that missing section of the hull. But, the fact that this second helix of DNA could cause such damage was very disconcerting. "Do you know what this second DNA helix does?"
It'll come out sooner or later, a voice commented in side Jakes troubled thoughts "The insect carried the DNA of Valron, a mass murderer from the time of the Iconian’s."
"A murderer?" Azanialix parroted, somewhat in shock. She certainly couldn't have a murderer running around on the Zealous, putting the lives of the crew at risk. "Is there any way to control this, Valron?"
"Well I think he's dead Captain, while Valron tore around the ship in his true form, I was trapped within my own nightmares." Jake was shore this was sounding more and more like a tale worthy of a holo novel.
This it, Jake thought, the end of my Starfleet career. Jake scrapped a hand down his face to rid it of perspiration. And scrape was right; for no sooner had he wipe his face had his hand melted together into a set of three long hooked claws. And the transformation didn't stop then...
Captain Ja'arda watched, almost transfixed as Ensign Sjet began to change . . . to transform into something else. And it seemed that he had no control over it. "Ensign, what is going on? Are you okay?"
"Get down captain!" Came the shill bird like shriek as the world around him changed. Normal colours began to shift into the infrared and he felt the bones of his knees melt into them self and become reverse articulated. There was a ripping sound as the series of spine shot out of his back.
"No, Ensign, I will not," she countered. "I am not about to sit by and let some unknown entity take control of one of my crew. Just listen to my voice. Relax. Focus on me . . ."
Jake tried as best be could, but there was something else behind his thought, lurking beneath the surface: The hunger, the hunt.
The prey caught in his sight wasn't moving or showing fear, it would be an easy kill...
NO! No, I am Jake Sjet. Not some animal!
"Get away from me! Quick!" His voice was totally lost now, replaced with a shrieking sound that might have shattered glass.
The Betazoid rose from her chair, her eyes locking with the creature that Jake Sjet seemed to be transforming into. Although the voice changed, she knew that he was probably still in there . . . somewhere. Deep within the recesses of the mind, he had to still be in there, fighting to overcome whatever he was changing into. If he weren’t, then he would not have continued the warnings for her to get away while she could.
She continued to look straight at him, unwavering. "Ensign, you can beat this. Don't let it win," she urged.
Don't let it win...Brave words...what were words? Jake was fighting what felt like millions of feels all at once. There was a sound from the door as it hissed open. Turning with lightning fast reflexes Jakes now scaled face turned, the diamond eyes that sought out the prey locked on to the shocked maintenance crewman as he stood in the door way. Behind him Jake could see many more prey things just standing there, waiting. You can fight this, but do you want to the voice stated again.
Backing up slowly took most of Jake will power, fighting the urge just to strike and kill them all. "I, I..." Jake began to say but the words were lost to him.
Fight this....
Captain Ja'arda tapped her combadge and ordered, "Security to the bridge!" She then recalled what she had read in the personnel files about Mr. Vaskel being a Vulcan. They often had well disciplined minds. Perhaps, if they were to work together, they could enter Ensign Sjet's mind and help to free him from whatever this was. If they couldn't free him, perhaps they could at least help him to control it. "Captain Ja'arda to Lieutenant Vaskel. Your presence is required on the Bridge immediately."
Fight this.... a singular echo broke through the frenzied killing instincts. And all Jake could do to reply was a feeble Help me, please.

Well, Mr. Vaskel, what do you think? Are you up for trying something like this? It can be a great minor plotline for while the Zealous under repairs at the Starbase!

Plus, it's not without some danger. If our characters go into Sjet's mind to help him combat the thing that is making him transform, and if we're killed within his mind, our physical bodies would remain comatose forever.

We've also got the Zero-G game lined up for while we're at the Starbase, plus the ceremony where Captain Ja'arda is officially made commanding officer of the Zealous and promotions are issued.

Anyone else have some ideas for side-plots while we're having the Zealous upgraded?
