Zealous Crew Lounge

This is an area where the crew of the Zealous can talk about...well anything. Here is where we can get to know each other outside of the sim and become a little closer. I believe that a close crew has much more fun then a crew who barley knows each other, so gather around, talk, have a drink, what ever. Just make sure you guys have fun :D

P.S.

Yes, I know I borrowed this idea from the Lexington board but look at it, they are some of the most avid posters and as an officer aboard the Lex I know they are a very close crew. Something for every sim to aspire to. Not that I don't fully expect the Zealous to overcome them at everything they pride themselves on. Well this is starting to get freaky...I think I just declared war on myself :?:

Let's try and get a discussion going here, has anyone read any of the Harry Potter books? I have read all five of them a couple times. What is your opinion of them? Do you like them? Do you hate them? Everyone feel free to chime in, even those infortunate people who aren't a part of the Zealous crew :D

No, for Harry Potter then. How about your favorite Star Trek series. Did you prefer DS9, TNG, TOS, VOY or ENT, and if you want to explain, why?

Star Trek DS9, the only way to go if you ask me.
One-It had the Dominon War in it.
Two- The better uniforms, no more red and black spandex.
Three- It was just better.

Fav.

Harry Potter: yes, read all five and have two fanfictions about them at www.fanfiction.net under SciFi129
Star Trek Series:
ST:TNG & Voyager- love the characters and plots
DS9, Enterprise- Never got into them
Original- of course, gotta love it

Very nice, Sci. I greatly enjoyed both of them.

My favorite series is probobly DS9. We got to see something besides the all powerful and noble Federation. We got to see a darker side to the Federation, one that was willing to do almost anything to win.

I had an idea  I think the Zealous needs a motto. Something catchy, so when you hear it you associate it with the Zealous. What do you guys think, would you like to have an official ship motto, and if so what would it be?

EDIT

Here are some ideas that came right off the top of my head.

1. "Shooting stuff, it really does relieve stress"

2. "We came for the synthehol, but stayed for the Orion Slave Girls"

3. "We came, we saw, we partied"

4. "Never give up, and never surrender"

5. "We will not go quietly into the night"

Are you kidding, yours blows mine out of the water. I was hoping to get a latin motto, and I looked for an online Englise to Latin transater but couldn't find one. In a few days I'll take it to a vote and see which one the crew prefers. Of the choices right now, I think yours will win.

Oh and I'm not a great acting captian; a great and magnificent person, maybe  , but not a great acting captain.

Or how about 'We go before to protect those that follow in our foot steps."
What do you think, for some one from a country half you guys couldn't point out on a map!! Hahahaha

Pretty good, I'll take it to a vote in a day or two, I just want to make sure no one else has a suggestion.

What country do you live in?

Here's my contribution for possible Zealous mottos:

Zealous, not modest.
      - James Beattie, The Minstrel (bk. I, st. 11)

Through zeal knowledge is gotten, through lack of zeal knowledge is lost; let a man who knows this double path of gain and loss thus place himself that knowledge may grow.
      - Buddha

Zeal is a volcano, the peak of which the grass of indecisiveness does not grow.
- Kahlil Gibran

Zeal will do more than knowledge.
- William Hazlitt

Zeal without knowledge is fire without light.
- Thomas Fuller

I just found the full text on the Beattie quote. Here it is!

Zealous, yet modest; innocent, though free;
Patient of toil, serene amidst alarms;
Inflexible in faith, invincible in arms.

how about one that discribes the ship: "Cross me, and I split in three!"

Very interesting Taneth, it will be very hard to pick which one to vote for in a few days.

Some of you are wondering where I come from. Well, its Britian. You know, that tiny little country everyone leave the check to after a war?
The one with the fouled up hospitals and train network? The one with Tony Blair at the wheel?
No? The neither do I.

I just wanted to say, how pleased and happy I am with the activity here. I just did a quick count and counted 60 posts for the month of July. And we still have half a month to go. That is awesome. While I'm not 100% for sure Im rather confident that this is the highest posting month in the Zealous's history, Good Job and Congratulations, You are a fine crew and a credit to the SLA and something for the rest of the simming world to aspire to.

Let's get a real good discussion going on here. Let's see what could we talk about??? How about favorite class of ship. Mine would obviously be Prometheus, but then again I'm not completly objective when it comes to ships trying to compare to the Zealous. But what about you guys? Do you prefer the age old Excelsior, or perhaps the small saber, or maybe just maybe you prefer something from a different species. Perhaps one of the new Romulan Warbirds or a Klignon bird of prey :?:

PostPosted: Thu Jul 17, 2003 2:02 am

I'd say Galaxy class first, followed closely by the Romulan D'Deridex class warbird

To late...

just thought of this, even though its to late.

Where light fears to tread, you will find us.

We strike an alliance in the heart of space, to protect the sancturt of space, of life, of our very existence.

I was going to go for a 'These are the voyages of the starship Zealous, her ten year mission...' i think that ones taken?

It's not too late, I just added them to the poll.
