My DS9 favorites are Bashir/Garak. The main reason I like these two, is because of thier relationship together. I love all the episodes which involve these two. We learn quite a bit about each of them through thier relationship.

I think my favorite book probably has to be Pandora's Clock, by John Nance. It details the fear over what would happen if a virus, which has no cure, was unleashed aboard an airplane.

It's something which could conceivably happen in real life. Look at what happened to passengers who returned to the US and Canada during the SARS epidemic. Some were quarrantined, fearing that they might have contracted the disease because air is recirculated in the airplane cabin.

I read the book after I had seen the two-part mini-series on NBC, starring Richard Dean Anderson (formerly of MacGyver fame, now on Stargate SG-1). It's pretty gripping and believable, partly thanks to Nance's own experience as a pilot. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it, but the book has a different ending from the mini-series.

My fav has to be Pulitzer, by L. Elizabeth Storm. Even though it's a tie in with a TV series, it's a great story about how a Vietnam vet, who has returned to the US, has to come to terms with his imprisonment in a POW camp.

Here is another topic for discussion, favorite race. I personally prefer the Romulans and the Bolians. The Romulans are just cool, (mainly there ship designs but also how there is always an air of mystery with them). And as for the Bolians I have no idea why I like them, I just do.

Welcome to all of the new crew members!

As for my favorite species, I would have to say Betazoid. Although there's some information that is known, there is a lot more which isn't. Plus, the shows and recent movies never really dealt much with the darker side . . . the Dominion Occupation, or the activities of the Enlightened Mind Movement.

Okay, back to the books.
Anyone read any Clive Cussler, or have anyone read First Landing by Robert Zurbin the head of the Mars Direct project? Both are really good authors.
And to those joining or Mad Hose in Space, welcome aboard and gods speed to the lot of you.

Irregardless of whether we reach 200 posts or not, I just wanted to congratulate everyone! To come close to that mark in one month alone is EXTREMELY impressive!

Everyone should be very proud of what we have accomplished, so far. There's only one way to go from here - UP! If we keep this posting level going, we'll be able to overtake the Lexington and other heavily posting sims within a matter of months!

I do not know whether some of you will have read my latest log as I have just sent it out. So far only this info has been given to Jacob Verne and Zania Jaarda by e-mail or at least I hope it has. For those of you who were here I do not know whether you remeber the plot I started about the Gamma Quadrant aliens that have a fleet hiding in the Alpha Quadrant ready to strike. The reason it has not started is beacuse they are waiting to strike but their time is soon coming as my latest log has revealed. I have decided to let the info on the species out.

The Tarmon AY have the same colour of skin as humans white and black but have many distingtive differences. They have a large bone in their skull that forces the skin out, on the forehead that have the bone vertical in the middle two parts move away go down the cheeks and re-connect in the centre of the chin. They have marking patterns all over their face that look like black war paint but is actually part of their skin. They usuallly have narrow eyes which are green where ours are white and sapphire where ours are coloured. On the back of each hand they have another bone sticking out to make an arch runing from just above the wrist to the bottom of the middle finger. They always have either long black hair or short black hair like Tuvok when they are darker. They will always respond to hails but like the Romulans they are smart and sly.

There are three different types of ships all mountes with powerful weaponry making them tacticaly more powerful than any species in the Alpha Quadrant.

Destroyer:
Small like the Nova
lenght: 156m
Height: 42 m
Breadth: 42 m
Weaponry: 16 phaser banks equvilent to the Type XII
8 Disruptor banks similar to those on the K'Vort Bird of Prey
9 Torpedoe bays with torpedoes with the matching power of Quantum torpedoes
Defence system: Shielding similar to the Nebula but regenerates 12 time faster than any federation one Primary only
19 cm Ablative hull armour
Triple Titanium/Duranium hull
Propulsion: Speciel impulse giving them the combat manouverbility of a shuttle
Warp Core Max Warp 9.999 for 32 hours
Transwarp Core
Crew Complement: 82

Battle Ship
Medium Size matches the Zealous exactly in all dimensions
Weaponry: 22 Phaser Banks Type XII
14 Disruptor Banks more powerful found on a Vorcha class
11 Torpedoe Bays .........
Defence System: Prometheus shielding 13 times faster regeneration
Same hull
26 cm Ablative hull armour
Propulsion: Same but combat manouvrability of a Defiant
Crew Complement: 200

Warbird
Length: 1435m
Breadth: 986m
Height: 207m (Galaxy 140 something with 42 decks)
Weaponry: 62 Phaser banks and what the Federation would consider Type XIV
54 Romulan Warbird like disruptors
36 Torpedoe bays Torpedoesm 9% more powerful than the Quantum
Defence: Sovereign like shielding 200% more powerful and regenerates 4 times faster
Quadruple Titanium/Duranium hull
33 cm Ablative Hull armour
Propulsion: Same but with manouvrability of a Galaxy.
Crew Complemet: 2689 (500 trained as away troops)

Though this seems over the top I would like to keep it because the shields as I have said before have a weakness to Hydrogen flames so if we carried out my Tyscodesium enhanced torpedoe and vent hydrogen from the warp naecelles around the vessel and hold them with tractor beam put all power to the forward shields so it is not destroyed and detonate the torpedoe in the cloud the shields would fail and the hull integrity would drop to 45%.

My Log bascically say we have two weeks before one of theose warbirds comes to hunt us down.

If we keep things up at the rate we're going, I don't think defending our title will be a problem. It'll be more of an issue of how many more posts we can make to beat what we did last month! LOL!
