Debris filled this area of space, from both of rebel and imperial fighters. Chassis, wings, assorted pieces and the bodies of the dead could be seen across fleet viewscreens. Then again, there wasn’t much of a fleet left. Of the four corvettes, three were nothing more than floating hunks of metal poised against the backdrop of the alien moon. If the corvettes weren’t filled with the dead and the dying, the view might have been…spectacular. One corvette remained, continuing the battle by picking off a random fighter here or there.

The frigate didn’t fair as well, even though it was sizably larger than the corvettes and better armed. Only pieces of them could be found at least on a cursory glance. The one light cruiser had managed to survive, either by sheer luck or coincidence. But, she was badly injured and might never see active battle again. The Mon-Cal heavy cruiser that the away team was on was another story entirely. She was still in good shape, relatively speaking. She had taken damage for sure, but she was still space-worthy for now. Even in the heart of battle, rescue and retrieval units were being used to pick up life pods that successfully jettisoned from their dying ships. The Merc had taken minor structural damage, shields were nearing 30% but holding, environmental had been hit hard though life support was still working, and the engines were “okay.”

A few dark troops were still moving through both the Merc and the Mon-Cal heavy. Security teams, even marine details, were working on the situation. Those individuals on both bridges had a bigger concern….

The Star Destroyer, damaged as well, but still massive and fully-functional.

Surviving rebel ships and fighters, the Merc included, were actively targeting and firing up on the Star Destroyer.
